Some evils cannot be concealed by the power of the Elves. Who, then, do you look to? The Dwarves? The Consultants? They hide in their mountains seeking riches. They care nothing for the troubles of others. These perils belong to all the Stakeholders and it is up to them to decide how to end it.
It’s at times like that, my lad, that you have to be extra careful. One does not simply walk into the Boardroom. It’s walnut doors are guarded by more than just Middle Management. There is evil there that does not sleep. When the Corporation stands upon the brink of destruction, strangers from distant lands, friends of old will be summoned to answer the threat of Mergers. Each race is bound to this fate, this one doom. None can escape it. You will unite or you will fail.
When you and eight companions form a Fellowship and set out upon your Quest, you are collaborating, though no oath nor bond is laid to go further than you will. A bow of the Galadhrim, a dagger of Noldorin and a Dwarven battle-ax are all tools for collaboration. Even Elven rope made of hithlain and the light of Earendil will help you on your journey.
You may wish that none of this had ever happened. So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world besides the will of evil. And that is an encouraging thought.
Farewell. Hold to your purpose. May the blessings of Elves and Men and all Free Folk go with you.
